Whew! Something New

Whew! It was a tough weekend. I had a deadline to meet for Monday AND quilts to get ready to mail to MQX this morning. I got it all done, thankfully, but not without sacrificing a few other things. For example, I wanted to put together the Flamingoose quilt this weekend too, but it didn’t happen. Ah well, there’s always tomorrow, right? Yes, tomorrow. Er…today.

When I stopped in my local quilt shop on Friday (local being 25 miles away, so I didn’t just stop in, but I was there for a reason), I found this:

Whew!
Feed Company, by Sweetwater (Moda)

Like it? I do, a lot. I was in a hurry so I couldn’t really stand and dither over what I wanted to make with this, but I knew I wanted something! And, since it’s kind of kitchen-y (those are recipes on the white fabric, and feed company names on the blue), I knew I wouldn’t make a bed quilt. So. Table runner and placemats it is. Napkins too.

I am probably not going to actually piece anything, just will put the blue fabric on one side, the white on the other, quilt it and cut it up into a runner and placemats. I’ll bind it with the red plaid. The black and white check is for napkins.

Whew!
I’m a Kansas girl. I had to have it!

So…I’m thinking I’ll just quilt along the black lines, keep it simple. I’ll use Insul-bright or something for heat for the runner so I don’t need hot pads on the table. Sound like a plan?

Wish me luck. I’m hoping I can get this all done today. Yes, I do have other things I need to be doing, now that you asked, but I need a quick finish. You won’t begrudge me a win, will you?

I’ll let you know how far I get!

What are you working on today?
