Progress!

I made pretty good progress on the workroom cleanup yesterday. I managed to clear the tops of two of my three tables. That may not sound like much, but the piles were pretty deep and there were lots of scraps to sort and put away. You would think I might learn how much easier it is to put things away when I’m done with them. So far that message has not reached my brain.

Amazon Prime is now airing episodes of “That Girl.” I enjoyed listening to it. Even though I grew up watching that show, I remember very little of it. I might switch over to music today, though, or even an audio book. I have several already ready to go, but haven’t settled on just what I want to hear yet. Do you have any recommendations for new books?

Since I have table tops to use, I’m hoping to isolate some of the piles of vintage pieces today. Again, that might not sound like much, but when you have hundreds of doilies, tablecloths, bits of lace, and other “raw materials,” it can get out of hand pretty quickly. I like to sort things with like, that is keep all the orphan blocks together, all the tablecloths, etc. This seems like a good plan until I am looking for just the right pieces…I rat through piles of stuff like I’m hunting for a pea, and rarely restraighten the piles. Again, you might think I would learn, yes?

At some point I want to find a new place for all of my class materials. I have kept them in a different part of the house and might do well to leave them there, but I decided I wanted them close to the actual quilts I take. I always like to make sure I have exactly the right pieces to illustrate a point. This way, if all of the stuff is together, or at least close, packing up might be easier. At least I won’t have to spend my prep time running up and down stairs!

Are you doing anything fun today?

I’m going to do some shopping with my daughter at our local shops in town. Then I might sneak some stitching in. I’m currently reading Birds in the Air by Frances O’Roark Dowell, and I’m liking it so far. I really do need to keep organizing my quilt room too!

Sounds like a good day!! Did you find any bargains?

The quilt room…sigh. I think it will be something I have to do for the rest of my life. It’s sort of like laundry, isn’t it? Never REALLY done.

      • Wendy Tuma

Well, yes, at my local quilt shop, where I went in for one thing and came home with four . . . so maybe a bargain?? But I’m happy to support her, so it’s all good. I’m with you on the quilt room. My creative space is always in some state of creative messiness!

Quilt things are necessities, so bargains there are just a bonus, right? And if you were supporting your local shop, that really IS a necessity. Yay you!

It really is a bonus. It’s a store full of reproduction fabrics, and Margo (owner) is a wealth of information, so she teaches me about quilting history and fabric. She’s become a friend, so I love to support her shop!
