Good Thing Thursday (4)

Good Thing Thursday. I love this day! I really enjoying hearing what wonderful things are going on in people’s lives. Maybe, just maybe, we can focus on the good and the not-so-much stuff will pale in comparison. What do you think?

One of my good things is I am expecting some of Victoria Findlay Wolfe’s Mostly Manor fabrics to appear in my mailbox any day now! I love Victoria’s work, as I know do many of you. But did you know that seeing her work several years ago smacked me right out of a quiltmaking funk? I was in a serious rut, wasn’t seeing anything new that inspired me, and then, one day, I saw some photos of her quilts. I was in love. And, while I would not copy her work, what I saw inspired me and pushed me to see things just enough differently that I couldn’t wait to go play. For that I will be forever grateful.

A couple of years after that, I was fortunate to meet Victoria (along with pal Shelly Pagliai of PrairieMoon Quilts) at a show in Kansas City. It was fun because I had been friends on Facebook with both of them for quite a while, and then…there they were! There really aren’t two nicer girls on the planet. Wickedly funny, yet sweet and humble, and amazing quiltmakers, both.

I ordered a couple of different things, a bundle and two pieces of yardage, but the piece I am most excited about is this:

Is it not just wonderful? Yes, yes, it is. I promise to put it to good use!

I got an email notice that my fabric shipped the same day I ordered it, earlier in the week. It should be here very soon and I can hardly wait. I know I am supposed to be finishing things, but seriously, you ought to know by now that I never miss a chance to buy a great fabric. So, if you like what you see, pop over and get some of your own (because I’m not sharing any of mine!).

How about you? What’s good in your world today? Care to share? I’d love to hear. Tell me about it in the comments…go ahead, make my day!

Aw! You are so sweet! And I am in total agreement — that orange print is my very favorite one, too. And I also love it in the yellow version!

      Nah, I am never sweet!

Yes, itโ€™s a great print in both colors. I do foresee more of it coming my way.

Your “Good Things Thursday” has been making me realize that my Thursdays are pretty fun! I was invited to join a friend at Prairie Point Quilting in Shawnee, KS for their quilt club this morning. I guess they’ve had it going for about 3 years but I never heard about it until recently. Great fun! I (sadly?) found additional fun fabric I had to add to my already obscenely large collection of same (cute Dr Suess fabrics I’ll make into Warm Kids Quilts for KAW quilt guild, and another new one name not coming to my feeble brain that is too cute for words! also intended for Warm Kids donation). Then I ran to the grocery store next door, quick dropped them at home on my way to another friends house again for coffee and rum cake she made. Visited for a couple hours then headed to happy hour with about 30 of my closest gal pals ๐Ÿ™‚ (It’s part of a women’s club). Then came home, made dinner for hubby and time to read, study and check EM. Another good Thursday. Oh, I DID manage to get some actual house work in before heading out for my day – dusted my finished basement and cleaned the bathroom there so I figure it evens out in the end.

You DO have good Thursdays! Sounds like a really fun (and busy) day! I’m glad you are seeing it, that is really my purpose here, to help people look at the good things in their lives. So often we get bogged down in the not-so-good, but I think there is always something to be happy about. And yes, any day you spend time cleaning is a bonus! I could stand to do some of that too and it will definitely deserve a reward after.

I hope your Friday is every bit as good as Thursday!
