I started this month full of enthusiasm and grand plans to get a bunch of blocks made. It was the second month of the 2016 350 Blocks challenge…Enter my quest to learn to free-motion quilt…my stack of mini-wholecloth quilts (that is, cat beds) grew:
But, since I was doing that, I didn’t get nearly as many blocks pieced as I wanted, a mere 19. I got only one more scrappy churn dash made (although I do have parts for a bunch more for someday):
I made nine more of these funky little bowties. I will have to work on how to set them one of these days, probably with an alternate block so they don’t look completely crazy. All that wonkiness set side-by-side gets to be a bit much.
Then I made these three blocks-turned-potholders. I just used scraps so I could have something to quilt besides just fabric. They make cute potholders, though, despite the beginner quilting!
I made three of these (and am counting each as two blocks) as placemats…again so I could try quilting something pieced simply.
And lastly, my one Splendid Sampler block done in February. I made a couple more of these blocks last night and am almost caught up…except for the one that had to be ripped since I sewed the parts in in the wrong places. Ah, well. It happens.
So that’s February. I didn’t make the goal of 30 for the month, but I plan to get at least that many done in March. I do plan to make it to 350 this year. Wish me luck!
How about you? Did you get a lot done?
